Introducing Annie Sloan’s newest color: Florence
What can I say, I am totally obsessed with Annie Sloan’s new color, Florence. This vibrant color of Chalk Paint™ decorative paint was formally known as Persian Green in the UK. It is the perfect color to pair with black, white, and a hint of gold. It is the punch of color when you need it! I personally love it with a sleek modern finish, like the table I will show you next week while I am at the Haven conference in Atlanta. It can also be used to create a time aged finish with the application of Annie Sloan Soft Wax in dark. This new color is just now getting into the hands of Stockists so grab it quick!

I was out shopping last week and wondered into the new Michael Kors store (my fashion obsession)…well, be still my heart; I spotted this brand new bag in Florence. I could not help but to convince myself that I could not properly launch a new color in the US and Canada without my matching handbag. We all know that what happens in fashion immediately precedes what we see in interior design.

You will also notice if you are out shopping that the hot colors trending this summer are super bright and fun. Of course, because I live in a world of Annie Sloan, I took a mental note…Frangipani (equal parts Emperor’s Silk and Old White), Barcelona Orange, Antibes, and Florence Chalk Paint.

And if you still want to stay fresh this summer, but bold is not your taste, take a more classic approach to your furnishings and home decor by pairing Arles and Napoleonic Blue (with dark wax) with a warm brown. Very nautical!

Mint green is a popular color as well! After Haven conference next week, I will have a post dedicated just to mint green and a few projects that I recently completed in my home.

Lisa…I loved this post and all the wonderful pops of color. Florence has already become a favorite of mine and I am looking forward to seeing her in person at Haven!
Long live color!!!!!

I am a huge fan of Annie Sloan paints after having done a paint class in April. I’ve painted loads of things including a silver candleabra, china jugs, various pieces of furniture etc. My favourite is a mahogany sideboard that I painted in Aubusson Blue with Florence over the top. It is absolutely divine and everyone admires it.
I have bought 5 of Annie Sloan’s books but am constantly frustrated when I want to copy an effect and the paint colour is no longer available. Do you keep stocks of some of the colours that are no longer on the chart? For example, I feel that there is a colour missing from the range, a deep rich purple/aubergine/cerise colour and I note that you used to have one called Hortensia which looks beautiful. Is it still possible to buy it as I’d love to use it?
Hi Angela! Thanks so much for sharing your love for Annie’s paints. We are adding colors all of the time so let me talk to Annie about Hortensia. At the least maybe we can provide a recipe to mix something close. Keep you posted!
The mirror tuernd out beautiful! Your post is so timely, because I just painted a gold mirror tonight and wiped off most of the paint. I wasn’t sure if I should wax it or not, but after seeing your mirror I definitely will wax it.
Lisa, I am also interested in a color approximating Hortensia. In fact, I’m working on an armoire right now for which I’d like to use Hortensia to paint the interior. I’m not willing to use anything but ASCP. Please keep me posted on what Annie says.
I,, too, am interested in where I might Hortensia, or what color mix with ASCP might produce approximately that same color. Thank you so very much.
HI Lisa~ I love Hortensia! Is an “Annie Sloan” color or did c i r u e l o i n t e r i o r s make it up? If it is not an ASCP color any ideas in a recipe for it?
Thank you so much for your help.
